However, before you think about replacing the spreadsheets, templates, models and formulas you and your team have devoted an extraordinary amount of time and effort to, you may want to consider the results of the following survey conducted by BPM Partners. An independent overview of the current business performance management landscape reveals that a vast majority of companies surveyed supplement their performance management solutions with spreadsheets.   This data underscores the widespread reliance on the flexibility and power of the familiar spreadsheet environment. The survey, conducted by BPM Partners, the leading independent authority on business performance management solutions, also found that the preferred interface for new packaged applications is spreadsheet-like, or one that consists of actual spreadsheets tied to a secure, centrally controlled system. Entitled “The Pulse of Performance Management 2013: What You Need to Know for Budgeting, Reporting, and Financial Consolidation Success”, the BPM survey was designed to provide companies with information that will facilitate intelligent, informed discussions about performance solutions. Commenting on the frequent reversion to spreadsheets, Craig Schiff, CEO of BPM Partners, says, “Spreadsheets do not go away.
