Vena Advances Finance AI With New Analytics Agent and Expanded MCP Capabilities

October 6, 2026 |
by Andrew Stanbridge

Finance leaders are under pressure to put AI to work quickly without sacrificing the control financial decision-making requires. Recent Deloitte research found that 59% of CFOs cited balancing pressure to deploy AI quickly while managing risk as a top challenge to enterprise-wide AI governance, while more than half (51%) pointed to a lack of governance authority and 43% to insufficient visibility into AI tools or use.

Finance teams need confidence in the answers AI gives them. That raises the bar beyond simply choosing the right AI model. The value of AI increasingly depends on the system beneath it and whether its answers are grounded in governed data that can be easily understood and traced.

That’s what we’re advancing with two enhancements to Vena AI: a new Vena Analytics Agent, now in open beta, and enhanced Vena MCP capabilities. Together, they give teams more ways to put AI to work while keeping it grounded in the data, calculations and controls finance relies on, so speed never comes at the expense of accuracy.

Vena Analytics Agent: Deeper Financial Insight, Built Around Your Business

The first enhancement, Vena’s new Analytics Agent, is designed to take on more of the work behind financial analysis, giving finance teams more capacity to focus on the decisions and strategic work that require their judgment.

Built on Vena’s new agentic foundation, it works directly with the live Vena financial model and builds cumulative context from the business knowledge and preferences customers choose to share. That gives the agent a deeper understanding of how each organization works, while making its analysis easier to inspect, refine and defend. Existing Vena permissions continue to apply, so users only see data they are authorized to access.

For finance teams, that means:

Zero setup and maintenance: Reads the live Vena financial data model that teams work with and trust without requiring any additional configuration or customization.

Multi-step financial analysis: Works through questions about variances, trends, comparisons, rankings and financial performance in multiple digestible steps.

Business context and personalized memory: Builds cumulative context around your role, preferences, business structure, industry and financial processes using the knowledge and instructions you share. Admins can save organization-wide context, while individuals can add personal instructions and preferences that carry into future conversations

Transparent, trustworthy analysis: Shows how it reached an answer, highlights missing context or uncertainty and asks for clarification when information is incomplete. Users can inspect the underlying logic, correct a GL account, period or assumption and rerun the analysis before relying on the result.

Vena MCP: Extending Governed Finance Data to Enterprise AI

The other piece is Vena MCP, which extends governed Vena data beyond the office of finance, allowing supported enterprise AI tools and cross-functional AI initiatives to work with the governed financial and operational data finance relies on. Teams across the organization can put that data to work in the AI environments they already use, while preserving the permissions and controls behind it.

Here’s how teams can put the enhanced Vena MCP to work:

Support organization-wide AI initiatives: Give supported AI tools read access to general ledger, transaction and operational data held in Vena, extending governed data beyond the Office of Finance.

Automate recurring work: Use skills and scheduled automations for proactive alerts, recurring analysis and other repeatable tasks using Vena data.

Bring Vena data into desktop workflows: Use Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work alongside existing Excel files, slide decks and other local documents.

Create richer outputs: Turn Vena data into reports, dashboards and interactive webpages through connected AI tools, giving teams more ways to explore and share what they find.

Across both, the principle is the same: AI reasoning can be probabilistic. The calculations finance relies on should remain consistent and reproducible. Vena brings the two together, keeping deterministic calculations and financial controls underneath the AI.

Building on Vena’s Investment in Agentic AI

Both of these capabilities build on Vena’s recent acquisition of Morpheo AI, an enterprise agentic data platform whose technology prepares, curates, structures and enriches fragmented enterprise data for advanced AI.

The acquisition expands Vena’s ability to bring governed financial and operational data together with cumulative business context. As that context builds, it can create compounding intelligence that makes AI reasoning and recommendations more relevant over time. Combined with continued investment in purpose-built agents and Vena MCP, it advances Vena’s broader vision for AI that develops a deeper understanding of how each organization plans, performs and decides.

The new Analytics Agent and MCP enhancements are the latest step in that strategy. The goal isn’t simply to give finance another way to use AI. It’s to give teams more capacity to focus on strategic work, reduce the time between analysis and decision and make AI more useful without compromising the trust, visibility and control finance requires.

Vena Analytics Agent is now available in open beta, with general availability expected later in October 2026.
