Comparably awards honor our Positive Workplace Culture and One Team Spirit at Vena
At Vena, every voice and action matters. We are all active contributors to our culture and growth. Collaboration, transparency and trust form the foundation of our One Team culture. This is why we’re especially proud and honored to be the recipient of three Comparably Awards—Best CEOs for Diversity, Best Leadership Teams and Best Career Growth.
Our recognition in these three categories is particularly rewarding considering that it’s direct feedback from our Venanites. Comparably is a workplace monitoring site where employees anonymously rate their companies in various categories. We continually leverage feedback from our team members to guide our company and culture. These awards are a sign that we are on the right track together.
Shada McShannon, Director, People Partners & DEI at Vena says, “Building diversity, equity and inclusion in our workplace is at the forefront of everything we do at Vena. It requires an ongoing commitment and is a constant work in progress. We’re very fortunate to have a CEO and other leaders who champion diversity. Together, we will continue to iterate on our DEI roadmap as an organization to ensure that trust and openness exist across every function and at all levels of our organization.”
Congratulations to Vena CEO Hunter Madeley for being named on Comparably’s list of Top-Rated CEOs for Diversity: Small/Mid-Size Companies. Comparably’s annual Best CEOs for Diversity represents the top-ranked CEOs based solely on anonymous sentiment ratings from employees of color (non-Caucasian) on Comparably.com in the previous 12 months (June 23, 2020 to June 23, 2021). Derived from 10 million ratings across 60,000 companies, the list is segmented by Top 50 CEOs of large companies (more than 500 employees) and Top 50 CEOs of small/mid-size businesses (500 or fewer employees).
This Business Insider article highlighted the following employee quote about Hunter, “CEO is inclusive and makes sure that every employee feels valued and appreciated. I have not worked for a company before where leadership genuinely cares about everyone!"
“I consider it an honor to be a member of a team that celebrates all dimensions of diversity and strives to build inclusion into everything we do,” says Hunter. “We are so much stronger when every team member brings their talent, experience and authentic selves to work every day. I also have to acknowledge the incredible work of our various Vena Resource Groups (N4W, Va11y, DEI, Pride, Green Team, Mental Health) as they tirelessly support, promote and advocate for a diverse and inclusive culture within our workplace.”
Hunter’s sentiments are shared across the executive leadership team as well as at the management level in every department, earning Vena a thirteenth spot on the Top 50 list of Comparably’s annual Best Leadership Teams for Small/Mid-Size Companies. This Business Insider article included the following employee quote about the leadership team: “Leadership team at Vena is progressive, inclusive, honest and true to company culture and values.”
One thing all of our leaders and Learning & Development team strive to do is foster career growth for all Venanites. Through a series of training programs, learning labs and mentorships, all employees are encouraged to sharpen their skills and to chart their growth at Vena. And according to employee feedback, it’s appreciated, earning Vena a spot on the Top 50 Best Small and Midsize Companies for Career Growth.
According to this Business Insider article, Comparably asked employees questions about professional development opportunities over a 12-month period at their company (June 23, 2020 through June 23, 2021), including if they had a workplace mentor and if there were advancement opportunities.
